The “Mental Health Starts With Me” Campaign is one component of a larger overall capital campaign to modernize Broadlawns Medical Center. This particular campaign initiative focused on improving the quality of the mental healthcare facilities and expanding access to much needed mental healthcare services throughout Central Iowa and its surrounding communities.
Prior to five years ago, when the hospital issued $30 million in bonds to be repaid directly from their own operating revenues, the hospital had not completed any major renovations to its campus facilities for 27 years. The $30 million in funds that were raised through bond funding were used to construct a new medical office building, surgical department, walk-in clinic and a new main entrance for Broadlawns Medical Center.
Funds raised through this capital campaign will be used to renovate existing inpatient facilities and to build an outpatient clinic building that will expand the scope of healthcare services provided by Broadlawns Medical Center.
